Bedford Democrats continue annual membership drive
The Bedford Democratic Party is welcoming new members as it continues its annual membership drive.
The Bedford Democratic Party has had a very busy and exciting year. It hosted all the presidential candidates or their spouses or prominent surrogates, as well as receptions for former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen and Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter.
In addition, the Bedford Democrats presented a seminar for the community on the future of health-care coverage. Last year the group sponsored seminars on the environment and stem cell research.
Why join? The Bedford Democrats have an e-mail newsletter that keeps members informed of all the latest news and local events. Members are invited to house parties for the candidates and other special programs. The group also has a Web site, www.bedfordnhdems.org, as a resource for the community. Dues are used to support local and state Democratic candidates.
By joining an organized group, Democrats in Bedford can be more effective in working on issues and supporting candidates, Mimi Silverman, chairperson, noted. " We have a wonderful, energized group here in Bedford, and it has been terrific to have everyone working together for a common goal."
Anyone interested in joining the Bedford Democrats should contact Mimi at 624-6626 or Jerry Hanauer at 472-5587. |
