The Bedford Democrats provide an organization through which local Democrats can support candidates and promote the issues they care about.
-We have an e-mail newsletter to inform members of our events and local and regional activities of interest.
-We have a new website: http://www.bedfordnhdems.org. This website is constantly revised and filled with very useful information and links to other sites of interest.
-We host local receptions for state and presidential candidates. This year we hosted Michelle Obama, former Sen. John Edwards, Elizabeth Edwards, Gov. Bill Richardson, General Wes Clark for Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign, former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen and Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter.
-We sponsor seminars for the Bedford community. On May 22nd we had a panel discussion on “The Future of Healthcare Coverage” at the Bedford Library. The participants were Dr. John Daley, Ned Helms and Dr. Gary Sobelson.
Our past seminars have been on the potential of stem cell research and the environment.
-We organize local candidate events, such as BCTV appearances and receptions, and coordinate issue responses [letters to the editor and op eds].
